Week 5/52

Oops!! We are almost done with week 6 and I am just getting to post week 5's pic! Oh well, better late than never, I guess! This past weekend I participated in something that had you asked me even just 6 months ago if I would do it I am pretty sure I would have laughed in your face! The YMCA that we are a member of has an annual indoor triathlon and this year I was among the participants! I am really proud of myself. It's not a typical triathlon, as far as distances. Each event was a timed event. You just went as far and as fast as you could in that event's time. It started with a 10 minute swim, followed by a 20 minute bike (on a spinning bike) and finished with a 15 minute run with a 1.0 incline (on the treadmill. There were 5 women that participated in my age group and, I did come in 5th...but I am SO okay with that! I did 17 lengths in the pool, which translates into half a mile. I did 9 miles on the bike, which translates in to legs being noodles! And then did 1.34 miles on the treadmill. For a total of 10.887 miles (fyi...1st place in my age group was 14.831)! Holly, the sweet gal who has taken me under her wing, and essentially trained me, registered me for this event and I am really thankful for all the support and encouragement she has given me! I was also thrilled to have Brian there during the triathlon to cheer me on and to take photos for me! So first is my photo of the week...me with my "athlete number" still on my arm (I washed around it when I showered, thought I would wear it for a day or two as a badge of honor!) and my biggest supporter! Love you babe!
